After an attack on the US Embassy in Pakistan in 1979, the State Department published a cautionary pamphlet entitled “Dying To Be a Diplomat.”
Paul Richter has written about foreign policy and national security for the past 35 years. As a reporter for the Los Angeles Times, he reported on the State Department, the Pentagon and the White House and traveled to sixty countries. He left the newspaper nine years ago and has been writing nonfiction books since. He is a graduate of Clark University and was raised in the Washington, D.C. area and Minnesota. He lives in the Washington, D.C. area.
