
Dr. Gordon Roesler is an internationally recognized authority in the application of robotic technologies to space missions. As president of Robots in Space LLC, he provides advisory services in space infrastructure and business concepts to industry, government and academia, with a focus on applications, logistics, advanced missions and new markets. He led space programs at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the University of Southern California, and the University of New South Wales. The space robotic system that he created at DARPA is expected to launch next year.
He helped the nation of Australia develop a space robotics control center in Perth, WA that was commissioned in 2022. His 2021 op-ed, “Let’s Build a Superhighway in Space,” describes a vision for a single cislunar logistics infrastructure that would provide opportunities for international collaborations as well as maintaining US advantages in space. He has consulted to the Defense Innovation Unit, NASA, and numerous aerospace corporations. He received the Ph.D. in Physics from MIT in 1992 and is a 1975 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He has 11 years of experience as a nuclear submarine officer and ten years as a naval reserve intelligence officer.
