Deputy Ambassador Arun Alexander of Canada

On Wednesday, October 4, we heard from Mr. Arun Alexander, Deputy Ambassador at the Embassy of Canada in Washington since August 2022.Mr. Alexander began his public service career at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada in 1995.  He has represented his country at increasingly important posts in the fields of trade and commerce in Singapore, the E.U., and Japan. In the latter, as Minister (Commercial) at the Canadian Embassy to Japan (2014-2019).

In Ottawa, Mr. Alexander has held a number of senior positions including Director of the Office of the Deputy Minister of International Trade (2010-2012), D.G. of the Trade Law Bureau (2012-2014), D.G. of the North American Trade Policy and Chief Air Negotiator (2019-2021) and Associate Assistant Deputy Minister of Trade Policy and Negotiations (2021-2022).

Mr. Alexander holds BA degrees in Biology and Economics as well as a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from the University of Alberta..
